How to download Anki add-on in my laptop?

That says that your database is locked by another process. Is Anki running already – this install or another version? Are you using any database tools that are currently accessing your database? Have you tried restarting your computer?

You can … not install that add-on – or correct the code, or downgrade to an earlier version of Anki. I’m not sure what your question is other than that.

Shall I switch to windows 10/11? It’s very frustrating to see anking not working after paying for it.
According to Wikipedia, Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows 8.1 on January 9, 2018, and even extended support ended on January 10, 2023. So you are not getting security updates for your laptop.
I would say you should definitely upgrade the laptop to Windows 10.
However, Windows 10 itself will only be supported until October 14, 2025. And older laptops almost certainly can’t be upgraded to Windows 11.
If you can afford it, you should probably consider getting a newer laptop.
You were wise to start with 2.1.49 – but if your system is 32-bit, you might need to go back even further. Install & Upgrade - Anki Manual
I agree with everything sprvlcn said about updating – the world is not kind to old computers and software. But also – have you asked AnKing what’s going wrong, if this is a setup they claim to be compatible with?
