I want to install Anki on SD card and use it on both Windows and Mac OS. So can I do it in this particular way? If so, how to do it properly? Or maybe to keep the collection on SD card? I don’t know to do this in the best way.

Can you explain what your actual goal is? What you’re asking is unusual, so this seems like we might have an XY Problem. If we know what you’re trying to accomplish, it will be easier to find a way to help you do that.
For instance –
- Is your goal to have a single Anki install you can use portably on multiple operating systems without installing it on those computers? – That’s likely not possible at all.
- Is your goal to use the same collection on multiple devices? – There are easier ways to do that.
You can start Anki on each computer using the -b <path-to-folder>
option, as shown by @eroscard .
However, you need to have Anki installed in each computer. There is no general executable or Anki installation that runs on both Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
