Ignorant new user wants to repeat exact previous card series :)

Hi,

I am a new user. I got a shared deck with 5000 phrases. And I fully understand (from FAQ etc) that Anki rules when to re-schedule cards.

However, me ignorant user just would like to do it differently! As follows:

  • Let Anki present cards I marked “hard” or “again” last time
  • Additionally present some new cards (if some limit is not reached)

That’s all… Would that be possible with Anki?

Rationale: It seems that Anki (or my specifc deck) focusses on some topic and thus presents a lot new cards dealing with that topic. However, when I am learning the phrases I am learning a lot what is off topic (like vocabulary, word order etc) which I would immediately loose when not repeated 50 times before introducing new cards.

Thanks!

Simple, just make new cards for those. But if you insist, check out the manual Filtered Decks - Anki Manual and specifically Searching - Anki Manual.

Thanks for helping!

I followed the instructions you linked. However, I don’t find a way to simply make Anki re-schedule the cards I did today. Neither via Custom Study / Study by card state or tag nor by Searching Today / Studied / Preview.

I always get presented new phrases I never had before.

I believe that I am missing something trivial here…

You’d use a filtered deck and filter for rated:1 as outlined in the links sent above by ZornHadNoChoice.

Yeah, thanks, that’s exacly what I did. I filter using rated:1 then Edit / Create filted deck / Build.

But then Anki says there are no matches.

rated:1 shows the cards you have seen today and rated (you pressed one of the 4 answer buttons).

Is that what you did? If yes, then it should show you the cards. You can also open the card browser and paste rated:1 to see which cards are matched; this might help troubleshooting.
