How to change the location of collection.media folder?

My collection.media folder was taking up alot of space so I put it on another drive. However, if I open anki now it doesn’t recognize my media files. How can I fix this? I really have no space for the folder to be on my local drive.

In the manual it says: If you always want to use a custom folder location, you can modify your shortcut to Anki. On Windows, right-click on the shortcut, choose Properties, select the Shortcut tab, and add “-b \path\to\data\folder” after the path to the program, which should leave you with something like

“C:\Program Files\Anki\anki.exe” -b “C:\AnkiDataFolder”
I have tried it and done it like this:

I’m not sure if I did it correctly, but it didn’t work for me.

I moved my collection.media folder to where I have anki installed like this:

Hope anyone can help, thanks in advance!

Did you move all the contents of the C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Anki2 folder?

“AnkiDataFolder” and “\path\to\data\folder” are placeholders that you are supposed to replace with the actual location of Anki’s data folder.
