How study time is recorded

When recording study time in the mobile version of Anki, does it count the time it takes to answer a card? Or does it calculate the time to go to the next card after the card answer is displayed?

Also, one time I was out of the room for 10 minutes with the deck open and that time was not recorded, is there a limit to the amount of study time required per card?

The time viewing the answer is included. The maximum time is configurable in the deck options, and is truncated to 60 seconds by default.
