How much is displayed?

Someone has uploaded what appears to be a helpful deck on the Arabic alphabet.
It can be found here:
https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/21671203

However, browsing the deck clearly shows that each card has the letter in isolated, initial, medial and final positions. When I learn from the deck, only one of these is displayed i.e. initial.

Has this deck been designed to display all four or are the other three supposed to be visible only when I click ‘edit’ or ‘browse’? If they are supposed to be visible when in the learning mode, which setting do I need to alter in order to get them all to display?

The notes create 4 sibling cards: initial, medial, final and one with all 4 of them.

Check your burying options in Deck options screen. Burying hides the other sibling cards for a day so you might not see all of them the same day.

Unsolicited advice: I think learning all forms together is easier. There is an internal logic to how these work so don’t see why should they be learned differently.

Thanks. That works perfectly.

Re. your suggestion about learning them all together, is there a burying option which does that? They all appear together once per letter when I do a custom study, but only with each form of every letter appearing once separately as well.

In browse screen, search -card:4 then select all the cards and suspend them.

That works perfectly.

Thanks very much.

Hold on. I’ve just found a major problem with this.

It has now reset every other Anki deck to zero.

To get them back, I have to go into every deck, uncheck ‘toggle suspend’ and then do ‘forget’ for everything.

Which part am I making a mistake with?

OK. I think I’ve found out what’s going on.

In your instructions, you didn’t include mentioning that I needed to select the deck inside ‘browse’, which means I ended up applying the setting to everything.

I’ve now fixed it.

Yes, you were supposed to do that for only that deck. Sorry I didn’t mention it.
