How can I quickly create a separate reversed deck (Ukrainian → English) from an existing deck (English → Ukrainian) in Anki?

Hi everyone!
I have a large Anki deck — about a thousand cards — where the front side shows an English word, and the back side shows the Ukrainian translation. Now I really need to create a separate new deck with the same words, but reversed: showing the Ukrainian word first, then the English translation.

Honestly, I don’t know the easiest way to do this. Creating a new deck manually from scratch would take too long and be very tiring. It would be great if there is some quick and convenient way to make this “reversed” deck without all the hassle.

I would be very grateful for any advice or recommendations — maybe there are built-in Anki features, addons, or export/import methods that help do this without recreating everything from scratch. It’s especially important that the solution is understandable for a beginner.

To emphasize again: I need a separate new deck with the same words, but where the Ukrainian word appears first and then the English translation.

Thanks so much in advance to everyone who responds!

Reverse Cards

The basic mechanism to do this (linked above) will be easier to understand if you are familiar with the difference between notes and cards. You are just asking your notes to create an additional card.

If you are using a custom note type (so switching to the default note type isn’t an option for you) – this can be as simple as adding a card type and clicking “Flip.” If you need more help customizing your templates, let us know.

You emphasized in your message that you want these cards in a separate deck. If you won’t be adding any new notes in the future, after you have Anki create these reversed cards, you can simply move them to a separate deck [Cards > Change Deck]. If you will be adding more, you can set up a Deck Override for your 2nd card type, so that Anki creates those reversed cards in a different deck.

I don’t think that you need to create a new deck, unless you really do want to.
Perhaps the easiest thing for you might the following.

If you do not care about your review history, then just export the cards, add a column second from the right called “Add Reverse” and populate it with “y”. Then import into a deck with a “Basic (optional reversed card)” Note type.

Or just move your cards to a new Note type (probably “Based (and reversed card)” or similar. To do this, go to the Browse window, select your cards, and then choose Notes, Change Note Type.
