Help in my situation

Dear Anki Support Team,

My name is Ahmed Elghanam, and I am a medical student in Egypt. I rely heavily on Anki for my studies on my old iPad, as it is an essential tool for my exam preparation. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints and the current economic situation in my country, I am unable to afford the full price of an Anki subscription at this time.

I would be extremely grateful if you could consider offering me a discount or any form of financial assistance in iOS subscription so that I can continue using Anki to support my education. I truly appreciate your understanding and consideration.

Thank you very much for your time and support.

Sincerely,

Ahmed Elghanam

“It’s too expensive in my country.”

I appreciate that costs of living are different in different countries, but I’m afraid it’s not practical to vary the price depending on where you live. The costs of building and supporting Anki are fixed, and they don’t vary based on the country a person using Anki lives in.

As for why the price might not be exactly the same as $25 USD, please note that Apple sets the price in each country based on the local taxes and costs of doing business there. Please also bear in mind that the price in the US is the price before state sales taxes are applied, so the difference may not be as as much as you think.

“As a student, I think it’s too expensive.”

Please compare it to the price of the average textbook and then consider how many hours of use you get out of each. If you don’t use Anki enough to justify the price, then you’re welcome to use AnkiWeb instead or look into cheaper alternatives.
Why does AnkiMobile cost more than a typical mobile app? - Anki FAQs

Use Ankiweb in your browser, Create a shortcut via PWA:
Open Safari (or any other browser) and navigate to your PWA’s website (https://ankiweb.net/account/login).

  • Tap the Share icon (box with an arrow) at the bottom of the screen.
  • Select “Add to Home Screen”.
  • Tap “Add” to create an icon on your home screen.
  • The PWA will open in standalone mode, without the Safari browser UI, giving it a native app-like feel.

Please note that the AnkiMobile app is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

If the app is asking you to pay for a recurring subscription, then you are using the wrong app. You are using an unofficial, copycat app instead of the official “AnkiMobile Flashcards” app.
