getConfig and readConfig confusion

I am running into an issue with an addon I am trying to make. I was looking at the documentation and I had an issue where getConfig would read config.json (not config.md) but writeConfig would write meta.json. Is there something I am missing here? I am new to this but I have tried to find the answer and couldn’t.

The document wasn’t clear about the differences between config.json and meta.json. Please have another read now that I’ve updated it.
