Future Due: including learning and repetition steps beyond the next step

Hello everyone.

I would like to make a suggestion regarding the stats. You probably set up the Future Due section to provide an overview of the workload in the near and distant future. However, in its current form, it seems rather uninformative to me.

If I have to relearn a card in two days and, if I pass, the next learning step is due in another four days, this second learning step is not included in the overview. The same applies to repetitions, of course. This means that the predicted future workload deviates significantly from the actual workload.

I would find it very helpful to add the following learning and repetition steps fictitiously, assuming that all learning or repetition steps are successful. Sure. That won’t be the case. However, the result is much closer to the actual expected workload than the model in its current form.

Ultimately, you can push the perfection further by considering the overall success rate, the success rates by learning or repetition step, or even an individual setting in the settings. However, that would probably be too complex.

However, I feel that considering additional learning or repetition steps beyond the next learning or repetition step would be very helpful.

Just my two cents.

You might be looking for the simulator, which is available in deck options → FSRS → Simulator.

This assumes that you’re using FSRS, of course. For SM-2 there is a simulator addon.

No, Future Due is not a prediction, it is a factual report, just like the rest of the Stats.
