Flag wise retention similar to deck wise retention

so we can preferentially read and nail cards which are more important and difficult dispersed among diff decks

Can you give more infos? I don’t understand what you are proposing. Typically you give at least those infos (and this is just a very short list):

  1. Feature description, in as much detail as neccessary to understand what you are proposing.
  2. Your use case that would be solved if this feature was introduced.

FSRS recently introduced deck-wise retention, allowing users to override the global retention setting for specific decks. For example, if my overall retention is set to 70%, I can set one important deck to 90% to prioritize it before an upcoming exam. This helps me focus on high-priority material while managing my larger backlog.

Similarly, it would be useful to have a flag-wise retention feature. With this, cards marked with a specific flag (e.g., red) could follow a custom retention rate—say 90%—regardless of which deck they belong to. This would provide finer control than deck-wise retention, letting users prioritize specific cards across the entire collection.

Thank you for elaborating!

You can move those cards into their own subdeck and use the per-deck Desired Retention feature.

But that’s inconvenient i believe because I dynamically update my cards’ flags.
I can’t keep moving every day, right?

Sure, you could. But I also have to question how effective (/productive) it is to change the DR of a card every day. If you have cards you want to prioritize/keep at higher retention, leave them at a higher DR.

Yeah, obviously I don’t keep fluctuating a single card flag status. I am talking about the cards in bulk, general.

I don’t wanna disturb their position also because I arranged them subject-wise. So it is easier for me to review. Just moving it outside to another for retention sake messes up its position from its own home sub oriented deck

It’s clear you don’t want this to work any way other than with “flag-wise” DR. I have to tell you that it seems pretty unlikely to be implemented, since flags are generally consider “temporary” and they have never been incorporated into the algorithm/scheduling system.

At least for now, it sounds like you need to choose what’s more important to you – using a broader array of subject-wise subdecks [even though tags are often a good substitute], or having the ability to adjust DR on a card-by-card basis.

Hey, sure, thank you so much. I didnt mean to sound like that, but I was just trying to explain my problem more deeply.

But,Thanks for helping me out in best way possible now.
