Error with pictures on imported deck

Hi All,

I’ve been using anki for a little while and find Image Occlusion really helpful. However, I keep finding that my images keep going missing.
I then set it all back up on a fresh profile, ensure anki is all up to date etc and it works great for a couple weeks until they go missing again! It’s worth mentioning that this is with a few different shared imported decks that others are having no problems with and we’re talking about ~2.3k IO card images going missing overnight after working fine for a few days to a couple weeks.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix this permanently? The constant resetting is really messing my algorithm up :frowning:

Also worth noting that I use Anki across desktop and mobile and sync between the two but did try de-coupling them/stopping the sync between devices and this didn’t fix the issue

System info: Windows 11
Anki: Version ⁨23.12.1 (1a1d4d54)⁩ - Python 3.9.15 Qt 6.6.1 PyQt 6.6.1

Thanks in advance to any kind commenters

There’s no record of any media files being deleted from your AnkiWeb account in the last month, so it’s a bit of a mystery. You could try using Anki’s built-in image occlusion instead, and see if the problem happens there too.

Hi Dae,

Thank you so much for the reply. Could you give any advice on how that solution might work with shared decks? Me and my colleagues make and share decks across and range of devices and most use IO Enhanced add on. If there a way of me converting them without having to recreate so many cards?

Thank you
Kind regards
Reece

I don’t believe there’s any way to convert cards created with the add-on at the moment. The issue may not be with the add-on itself, but how you and your friends are sharing cards. If the same crad displays an image for your friend, but not for you, what happens if you delete the card, then import it from a shared deck again?

Hi Dae,

I’ve not specifically tried deleting and re-uploading cards, I can have a look at this tonight and see what happens.

Typically what I’ve had to do is create a new user then upload to there and it’s then been okay for anything from a few days to a couple of weeks before the media goes missing again. I do media check when I upload and nothing is missing at that point and again when I notice things are missing and that’s when a large number of pictures have seemingly disappeared.

I’m not sure if that helps in the interim but I’ll try deleting a few faulty cards tonight and re-uploading the apk to see if it fixes the issue and let you know.

Thanks again for your help
