Hello,
I am unable to install AnkiDesktop on MacOS 26.3.
Would someone please help me get this working? I’ve already paid for the iPhone app so I would really like to have this working.
I have tried installing the version before the current one and I still get errors like these.
Thank you!
I think that this suggests that a network issue might be causing the connection to close prematurely.
I suggest examining your network connection, especially things like proxies, firewalls, VPNs, regional internet-block issues, etc. You might want to experiment with using different a network connection via VPN or mobile hotspot, or try using a different network connection altogether if your computer is mobile.
Workarounds:
- Install Anki 25.02.7. That is an older version, the last before the switch to the new installer.
- Possibly consider installing All in Anki. Warning: this is not an official Anki package. Instead, a community member pre-built Anki into an all-in-one package that doesn’t require further installation steps. But, it is not official, and you would need to decide whether you trust the person who made it.

I thought yesterday that this might be the case and switched to another network connection but to no avail. One thing to note, though, I had NordVPN running in the background the entire time.
I have a Windows partition in my Mac and was able to install in the Windows version into that partition. This partition does not have NordVPN running in it, though.
This morning, I disconnected from NordVPN and tried installing the MacOS version again. Installation successful!
Thank you for your input, BenJamesBen! Have a lovely week!
