I previously had an older version of Anki but was prompted today to update it, so I reinstalled and replaced the outdated app. However, Anki now will not open up and instead gives me this error message in a terminal window:
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my computer, clearing my trash bin, following Chatgpt’s suggestions, etc. but nothing will work. Advice?
Are you using a VPN or proxy?
I have tried to install the latest release 25.07.5 on a fully updated Windows 11. I run the .exe and it installs and then the launcher runs. I then select option 1. The output is:

I’ve uninstalled all VPNs and proxy applications and it is still not working.
Please see other recent threads and try the other suggested solutions, like –
Did you try to use the download mirror also? Does it also fail with the same error message?
(You can activate/deactivate the mirror by pressing 7 in the launcher and then choosing China.)
