Can't update Anki?

I just downloaded the newest version of Anki, and everytime I launch the terminal and check to update, it says:

Unable to check for Anki versions. Please check your internet connection.

I have internet connection, I created an exception in my firewall for Anki, and I turned off my virus protection. Not sure what else to do - it won’t even let me launch an old version of the app. I have a Mac M2 Pro running Tahoe 26.0.1. I was running a really old version (like 24.something) of Anki prior to this update and it was getting super buggy, so I updated and this terminal launcher is all new to me.

Thanks for your help.

You should try deactivating your firewall.

Thanks! I turned off my firewall and restarted my computer, still no help. I’ll see if I can download an older version of the app in the meantime.

You should also search the forum for other posts with similar errors from the launcher. Suggestions there might help you too.
