Download of 25.02.4 will not open

Hello

When downloading the update of 25.02.4 it downloads successfully but when I try to open it I get this error message:

Error opening file for writing:

C:\Users\theja\AppData\Local\Programs\Anki\mpv.exe

Click Retry to try again, or
Cancel to stop the installation.

I do appreciate that this might be a simple question but I have tried for the last few days to solve this. I can now only access my decks on AnkiWeb and therefore I can not change the settings.

Any advice gratefully received

That’s a very common error while updating the app, and it is caused because the MPV Media Player process is still running at the moment of the installation.

To solve this, either (a) open the Task Manager (try Ctrl + Shift + Esc keyboard shortcut) and look for mpv.exe in the list of background processes, select it and click End task to force its closure, and reinstall the application as always; or, alternatively, (b) just restart your computer and then try to update again.
