Crosspost: Hourly breakdown statistic ignores time zone

This issue (Hourly breakdown statistic ignores time zone · Issue #18049 · ankidroid/Anki-Android · GitHub) was mentioned in Anki-Android and I checked the Anki Desktop App and saw the same behaviour. One of the maintainers mentioned I should check whether upstream might be planning to change this or not. Thanks in advance for any help!

Learning at 10pm GMT +1 should count for the same hour as when learning at 10pm GMT +6.

There’s currently no way to track which timezone a review was done in

All that we have available to work with when calculating the hourly breakdown are (1) the timestamps of applicable reviews and (2) the current timezone

pinging @A_Blokee becaue he might have more insight on this from working on the SSE addon

Expected behaviour

I don’t think the user reporting the issue is correct about what should be expected here. I understand why they want that [in their unique time-zone-shift lifestyle], but all times in Anki are standardized exactly so that they won’t vary based on what time zone a user moves through or to. So the times in that graph are as expected.

I think a change like this simply can’t be supported.
