I’m writing because I’m wondering if there is a way to convert/edit cards made with “front and back” template to “cloze” format.
If it were possible, please guide me through on how to convert the cards.

You can’t do it just by editing the templates, because Cloze note types have special underlying code. But you can use “Change Note Type” to switch these notes to an existing Cloze note type – Browsing - Anki Manual . You’ll map your fields to the fields on the Cloze type, so if you have added extra fields, you’ll need to add those to your Cloze type first.
