Greetings folks, I have all the words of a field in lower case and I wanna change the first letter to capital letter, I used the “find & replace” tool & also an “add-on” but unfortunately it didn’t work, so If you know If I can make this change I’d really appreciate it, thanks in advance.
The first letter of the first word in the field, or the first letter of every word?
What add-on did you try?
Thanks for your reply I really appreciate it (Y)I wanna change only the letter of the first word in the field, in fact I’ve got only a word in the field cuz I’m learning vocabulary, an the “add-on” I used was this one “Advanced Browser” “https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/874215009”, again thanks in advance
Maybe CSS could be used in the card template to make the word appear capitalized in cards.
How important is this to you? Because the way I’ve thought of seems a bit of a bother – running Find and Replace 26 times, once for each letter of the alphabet.
There are ways to export the deck as text and manipulate it another program, but this would change the 1st field, so you wouldn’t be able to import it back in to update the notes. There are workarounds for that, but by the time you do all of those steps, you’ll still have to figure out how to update the letters – and running Find and Replace 26 times starts to look easier!
What did you try in Find and Replace that didn’t work?
Ok here’s the thing, the reason I wanna do this is cuz I’ve got duplicate cards but the issue is that in one deck the words are in lower case and also have a dot at the end and the “find duplicates” tool doesn’t find these flashcards, Ok I think I’m fu$#ed up.
If this is just step 1 of your process, this seems doable. Even once you identify the duplicates, you’ll need to decide what to do with them – how to merge the information on the 2 notes, which one to delete, etc.
I think you could fix 2 letters per day using Find and Replace, and then spend the time to go through those in duplicate check. You’ll be done in a couple weeks – which I’ll point out is a LOT faster than going through all of these mis-matched duplicates by hand.
One starts with upper case, like Elephant
– and the other is lower case with a dot, like elephant.
– but no spaces? If you can post sample text for what each looks like, someone can help you come up with a regex find-replace that will work. We need the EXACT text – put it between `backticks
` so the Forum doesn’t edit it.
I sorta solved the problem I used “LibreOffice” & I could make the changes but unfortunately by importing the modify deck the audios just doesn’t work
Remember when I said this?
Did you do it correctly? I don’t know what you exported, or what you imported, or whether the import updated your current notes or duplicated them. You’ll have to say what you did if you want help fixing that.
