Hi there. I wish to have a card type similar to the Basic, but with an additional field on the back called “Extra,” to provide additional context to the answer.
I wish for this additional field to only show its contents on a second tap, after the “Back” field is already shown.
Is this possible? Any advice appreciated, thank you.
No problem. Make sure all of your devices are in sync before you start doing this, because you’ll have to do a one-way sync when you’re done.
Since the changes you make to the Basic note type will apply to every note that uses that note type, you should make a separate note type first.
Notes > Manage Note Types > Add > “Clone: Basic” > give it a meaningful name, like “Basic-Extra”
In the Browse window, select all of your notes/cards that you want to use this new note type – Notes > Change Note Type > to “Basic-Extra”
Add the new field to your “Basic-Extra” note type – Notes > Manage Note Types > Fields > Add > “Extra”

To get to your card templates – Notes > Manage Note Types > Cards
You’ll add a Field Replacement for your “Extra” field on your back template – wherever you like.
For the click-to-show functionality, make it a Hint Field
