If the issue is still present, I have a few suggestions.
-
Try the latest Anki’s beta version that was recently released
-
If it’s an Nvidia card, try to temporarily set Power management in Nvidia control panel to Max performance.
-
Try to disable Windows audio enhancements.
-
Try to set default audio format in Sound Control Panel for the playback device to 16 bit, 48000 Hz or 24 Bit, 96000 Hz.
-
Maybe also try Resplendence Software - LatencyMon: suitability checker for real-time audio and other tasks
-
Maybe try “No Sound Fix (libmpv)” - https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1586469444
-
Maybe try “No Sound Fix (VLC)” - https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/383102081
It might be a different issue, if you’re using bluetooth headphones.
In this case, maybe try to play some music or YouTube in low volume in the background or try Sound Keeper, that was previously suggested by someone who had a similar issue, to keep a Bluetooth device from timing out and sleeping.

Alternatively, maybe try to update mpv to the latest version.
- Close Anki
- Downloading mpv from https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpv-player-windows/files/64bit/
- Unzip it somewhere, then move and replace mpv.exe to %LocalAppData%\Programs\Anki
- Open Anki
Alternatively, maybe install VLC from https://www.videolan.org/vlc/ to C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC and try the “No Sound Fix (VLC)” add-on - https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/383102081
