I have version 25.09 and although I have leech settings enabled, none of my cards are being tagged as leech and I am not sure why. Here are the settings I have in place. As you can see, the leech tag does not even appear in the list of tags
There will only be a leech tag once a card actually becomes a leech. You will see a popup in the reviewer informing you that the card was a leech. Only cards that become a leech after you set that “Tag only” action will be tagged though; it won’t be applied retroactively.
I have been using anki for about a year and I have never seen a pop up or have never gotten a card tagged as a leech. To ensure this was not an error, I just made a practice deck and pressed “again” on one card five times (with the leech threshold still being set to 3) , and still did not get any leech tag on it. I am not sure what the problem may be here
Probably because your card wasn’t a review card yet. Leeches - Anki Manual says:
Each time a review card “lapses” (is failed while it is in review mode), a counter increases.
And you can check what a review mode is here: Getting Started - Anki Manual.
That would make sense for the practice deck I made, but it doesn’t make sense for the other hundreds of cards I have been using the past year that would have definitely been in review mode at this point—I am not sure if I am missing something or need to change something within my settings
When you look at the “Info…” for one of the would-be leeches, what does it show? Does it show a suitable number of Lapses in the header section? Does it actually show a suitable number of Rating = 1 lines in the timestamped section?
Tags can be renamed. Is it possible that you somehow renamed the original leech tag to something else?
