I have a friend that is trying to open Anki on a MacBook (Sequoia 15.7.2). Should be as easy as pie. He downloaded, installed, and then tries to open the application and it does not open. Instead, it opens the Anki Launcher. He’s tried everything…. multiple calls with very smart people at Apple. Any guidance on thoughts on how to address would be amazing. I’m dumbfounded. Willing to pay for help on this… just have no idea of what to do here.
I have this same issue but im on Sonoma 14.8.2, any ideas on how to fix anyone?
What exactly has been tried and what is the issue? I assume you already pressed Enter as instructed, but what is happening that you need help with?
Hi, I had this last night and thought it wasn’t working but all you need to do is press enter and then wait for it to load up and then it should make you pick a language and it will just open Anki after that
Thank you for the responses. As crazy as it sounds, I don’t know if my friend hit “enter” when seeing the screen. I’m checking now to find out and will post again. It did seem odd, as I’m certain that the app just opened when I clicked to launch it. I don’t recall the Launcher screen appearing.
If you haven’t installed a new version that uses the launcher, you wouldn’t have seen that screen yet.
And to finalize this post, Yes, it worked when he hit enter, just as you said. Thanks again for the quick response. I’ll know what to do in the future, but still think it might cause others problems… not sure it is intuitive that you hit “enter” when a launcher appears after trying to simply open an application.
