Normally, default parameters are grey and optimized parameters are black. But I just realized that in Anki 25.05 and Anki 25.02 as well, after using “Add preset”, default parameters in the new preset are black, which is confusing.
Please demonstrate this with screenshots.
If you mean that after adding a new preset, the default parameters are set in the FSRS parameters (instead of the parameters being missing), then this has always been the case.
I’m referring to the color. Optimized = black. Default = grey.
BUT, after using “Add preset”, default = black. They become grey again after a reset.
This has always been the case. The parameters are always displayed in black. If the parameters are empty, the default parameters are shown in gray as a hint (if there are no parameters, then default is used).
When new presets are added, the FSRS parameters are not empty.
This may not be the most correct behavior, given that the default parameters are updated from time to time.
On the other hand, this is the only way to get default settings to copy to anki.
Yeah, that’s how it always worked. Basically, the default parameters are copied to the parameters field when you are creating the new preset.
Maybe before copying Anki can check whether the preset is using the default params and if yes, set the new preset to use that instead of directly copying.
(well, imo params field should be removed anyway)
While I never modified it manually (and thus can understand to remove the option to modify them), why would removing it completely be a good idea? Why not use just a Copy FSRS Params button, which can be used for the visualizer on github or for support inquiries?
I agree with the other things you said though and also think that Expertium is right in that the behavior should be identical, no matter if a preset had been cloned or not.
You get me, this is what I suggested before (although, only keyboard shortcut was mentioned). But some people think params being visible on deck option screenshot helps in troubleshooting. I still got no idea after all the debate how exactly so I’ll just ask you to read the old threads.
