Best way to review all cards in random order without reschedule?

I currently have to go into custom study, and then choose by tag and then select “non” and then “review without reschedule”.

is there a different/better way?

Nope. That’s the way to do it.

If you find yourself wanting to do this often [which you shouldn’t, because it’s not a very useful way to study and it makes your spaced repetition scheduling less accurate], you can just continue using the same Filtered deck. Empty it when you’re done – Rebuild it when you need it.

I hear you on the algorithm but often times i’m having exams less than a week from the lecture day. Sometimes the exam and is 3 days after the lecture so there’s not really any time to let the algorithm do it’s work. i’ve even set the retention to 97% but it still schedules cards like 20 days out which doesn’t make any sense for me.

It seems like people who use the algorithm must be using it for their own personal studies and not school related stuff? I mean I guess it’d be good for a final and using it throughout the semester but for the rest of the exams it doesn’t seem super useful. unless maybe im missing something?

thanks for the tip on the filtered decks! ill try that out

That’s unusual for a newly introduced card, unless you’re grading cards Easy.

  • Do you have enough review history to get good parameters?
  • Are your parameters recently optimized?

Plenty of folks use Anki for short timelines, like a 1-2-week block. But you’re right – on a 3-day timeline, there’s not really any time for spaced repetition. To be fair, there’s not really time for repetition at all, so it’s mostly about using the initial study cycle to process/understand/learn and create your notes/cards – and then you’ll be lucky if you can study everything once or twice.

the 20 day thing is usually on like the 3rd time getting it right, which means i won’t ever see the card again before my exam. usually after the 2nd right attempt it goes to like 7-8 days which is still too far away for me. I guess I could try it on .98 or .99 and see.

and also to your questions, no i don’t have a huge review history nor have I bothered optimizing because I haven’t used the algorithm enough yet imo

You don’t need a “huge” review history to optimize. If you’ve studied (decks in this Options preset) for at least a couple weeks, I’m sure you’ve got plenty to start. And it doesn’t matter whether that history is from before or after enabling FSRS, because it looks at the entire history of the card.

After you click optimize, FSRS will tell you how many reviews it counted. Try that (you can close without saving, if you like) – how many reviews is it?
