Audio Playback Controls

This adds options to control audio playback speed in the reviewer.

You can configure the shortcuts and the speed change from the add-on config under Tools > Add-ons.

There are several add-ons on AnkiWeb that do the same, but it appears that none of them works on the latest versions of Anki (2.1.49+).

This only works with the mpv media player (which Anki uses by default on all platforms).

Hey! This is great. Would it be possible to add a random start point to the playback? I am studying for a music exam where the professor can start the audio from any point and I have to be able to recognize the song. Lots of music students could benefit from that feature.

I’ve added this to the todo list. It’ll probably take me a while to look into it though.

Hii :frog:I’m looking for the same feature than @littlec was looking for 2 years ago, which means a way to make the audio start at a random point, and not necessarily at the beginning. Were you able to cook it ?

It’s not a high priority. I added it to the issue tracker to keep in mind for the next update.

Sadge, I hoped that, by then, the functionality would have been implemented.
The feature would be extremly useful at some extent, especially if you need to learn an audio, you don’t necessarily want to listen to the start sample again and again, because you will just end up thinking you know the song, whereas you in fact do know only the first seconds of it and have no idea of what it sounds like 1 min after :sob: . I’m praying it gets added sooner or later  .

Could this be made compatible with anki mobile?

No, most addons are only supported in Anki clients, not AnkiMobile nor AnkiDroid.

Could it be possible to add seeking as well since its integrated with mpv?

Will consider that for the next release.

this is a great add-on. I like it, and definitely need it. but I find the shortcut key, [ and ] to speed up and down, do not work.
when I try to speed up or down, I have to click in the menu. Each time, it change a little, from 1.1 to 1.2. If I want to make it 50% slow, I have to click it many times.
Dear sir, could you please help ?
Many many thanks.
