Answering cards asking the same info from different angles

Hello!

I’m looking for some advice on a problem I’ve encountered while working through my Anki backlog. I have quite a few cards that ask for the same information from slightly different angles.

For example, I had a card that asked: “What is a mixed condition (modality of a legal act)?” The answer was: “When the fulfillment of the condition depends on the will of one of the parties and the will of a specific third person.”

I didn’t remember the answer, so I hit “Again.” However, later the same day, another card appeared with a very similar question: “What is the name of the condition (modality of a legal act) which depends on the will of one of the contracting parties and the will of a specific third person?”

I knew the answer to this second card only because I had seen its “twin” earlier. It felt a bit like cheating to answer “Good.”

My question is: In this situation, should I still hit “Again” to ensure I truly learn the information, or is it acceptable to go for “Good”? I am aware that this happens mostly because I have a backlog and wouldn’t really occur otherwise.

Any advice on how to handle these types of redundant cards would be greatly appreciated!

Ideally those are cards that you would have created to be siblings – from the same note – and you would use the Burying options to automatically keep them from appearing on the same day. That’s not always done and not always possible (for a variety of reasons), but you can still do the same thing manually – bury that card/note instead of grading your answer today.

I see. Basically like a cloze or a front-back/back-front. Never used manual burying, will look into it.

Thank you for the answer! Yours are always useful - both here and on Reddit.
