AnkiMobile widget

Heat map Widget would be Nice.

Hello, thanks for hard work. I know that there was such a topic with a complex widget logic for iOS

My suggestion is to add a very simple logo widget for the iOS/iPad lock screen

Why?
It feels like, a reminder to go check your unfinished decks))

This is what I have done with ChatGPT as an example, it would be only a logo(even without a border for logo), and it’s pretty easy to add (I am a developer myself, I would like to contribute, but code is not open source for iOS)

It would be a great start for widgets, I assume

Thanks for any feedback!

ps. It’s an .accessoryCircular widget
pss. Plenty of apps already have such simple widget (slack, chatgpt, claude, google calendar)

I merged your post here. Even though it’s for a specific variety of widget, it’s best to track together with any other efforts to implement widgets.

Thanks, appreciate it!

I would also like a wiget like those suggested here. Like maybe take the anki statistics page for ur decks and make them displayable as wigets?

And for options like some other wigets u could make it so u can pick what stat for what deck u wanna display (or all).

Like heatmap and todays stats would be my prime usecases but others would be nice.

An open source version of Anki for iOS has recently been developed by volunteers (antigluten/amgi) this is a third party project and is not affiliated with the official Anki, but the code is based on Anki for desktop and is compatible with Anki. It seems the founder of Anki (Damien Elmes) has already permitted them access to the AnkiWeb server (issues #12). So I think iOS developers might be able to create add-ons for iOS by forking this repository or send them a pull request. Like forks of AnkiDroid or their APIs. (I’m not involved with them and haven’t developed it so this is just an idea.)

I think widgets would be helpful too. Widgets like Heat-map for Mobile, will make Anki Mobile Experience richer.

UI design needs serious refinements.

The Design language imo should be consistent on all Official Platforms so that Anki always feels home and Familiar.

AnkiMobile includes almost all desktop studying functionality but lacks advanced note-type management, add-on support, and several quality of life features like Background sync on app launch and termination using iOS background task APIs, also Web-based add-on runtime if Anki moves to Svelte, add-ons could be written as Svelte/JS components that work everywhere

Theres definitely room for a lot of improvement’s.

I moved your post to the thread about widgets.
