I downloaded the app on my Macbook but it won’t open. I’m running the macOS Tahoe 26.1 version, and I have a 2022 MacBook Pro.
Whenever I try opening the app, it shows up in the Dock for less than a second, jumps once or twice and disappears without opening. I deleted the app and reinstalled it, I tried opening the app with the Terminal but nothing seems to work unfortunately.
When you tried to open the Anki launcher using the Terminal, you would have seen some output in the Terminal window. Could you please copy and paste that output here?
The Terminal command that directly opens the Anki launcher is:
/Applications/Anki.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher
The problem seems to be that there are one or more files missing from your Anki installation. (Perhaps when you installed Anki, the process was interrupted and not all needed files were downloaded?)
You might want to try again to delete and then re-install your Anki installation.
To delete the Anki installation:
rm -rf ~/Library/"Application Support"/AnkiProgramFiles
To re-install Anki, open the launcher and use the text menu to install the latest Anki version:
/Applications/Anki.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher
If you see any error messages during the re-installation process, please copy and paste them here. (The installation process can take up to 10-20 minutes for the many individual Anki components to be downloaded and installed. Please be patient and wait for it to fully complete.)
