For a some days now, Anki (desktop) developed the habit of occasionally not responding for a couple of minutes. In those sitiuations, the Task Manager reports that one of the two Python threads is “not responding”.
Is there any sort of reorganisation or other action that can be done to make Anki run more smoothly?
Where should I start troubleshooting? I am not an Anki developer.

Ok. I checked the database as suggested by the section you pointed to. It took one second, but it told me it reorganised. So now I’ll wait if the issue reoccurs. I don’t expect an improvement, because the process was so quick.
I suppose that afterwards the “Sync” option became red, and it wanted to have an upload to AnkiWeb, is a standard consequence of that reorg.
If it does, you also need to try the rest of the Troubleshooting Checklist, before responding.
A one-way sync isn’t always required after Check Database, but the fact that it was here indicates that something significant was wrong. Hopefully that’s now fixed.
