Anki does not run (blank screen, nothing appears) on either of my Win11 laptops. I have never experienced any problem with Anki on my previous computers (Windows 7 and 10). I tried various solutions according to the website, and only one working seems to be installing the old alternate build. However, this one is not compatible with some newer plugins.
I tried to install again the newest verison, and still not working, need to reinstall from scratch, etc., hopefully the alternate will run. Is there any chance this will get fixed in the future?
Update: Installed the alternate version again, but keep getting an error message - This profile requires a newer version of Anki to open. Did you forget to use the Downgrade button prior to switching Anki versions?
How to proceed now?
OK, so it was working in the software mode (after I uninstalled everything using a commercial uninstaller software), but only until the next system restart. Now it always appears for a second, and disappears immediately after that (or appears, freezes for few seconds, and disappears again).
Yes, that’s what I did. Spent another two hours struggling with that stuff… In the end, I had to create yet another profile to get back to my previous state. I would be fine with the old ANKI for my needs, but some of the newer plugins would not work with it, for example I purchased Awesome TTS credits only to find that my old version of the plugin does not accept the API key… also Migaku, etc…
Could you try debugging? This will reveal why Anki is not working
Starting Anki from a terminal may reveal a bit more information about some errors. After installing the latest Anki version and ensuring all Windows updates are installed, instead of running Anki directly, press the Windows key (or open the Start menu), type cmd, and launch Command Prompt. When the terminal window opens, paste the following command, and press Enter. (The path will be different if Anki is installed in a location that is not the default.)
%LocalAppData%\Programs\Anki\anki-console.bat
Presumably Anki will fail to open like before, but the output in the terminal window may reveal something about what is causing the problem. Startup Issues - Anki Manual
Then copy the output of the terminal and paste here in preformatted text (crtl + e)
