Anki frequently crashes and forced to reset window sizes once every week at least

My anki app on my macbook crashes at least every week forcing me to reset window sizes after each time it does. This has become really frustrating and I am wondering if there is any other fix? I cannot use the small window size it resets to and must have the window be near full screen to unlock/search for cards.

Start by trying everything else on the Troubleshooting Checklist – even the things you don’t think are related. That’s the primary way to address unexplained crashes.

It’s also worth figuring out if you’re using the right version of the right app for your computer.

  • What version of macOS are you using?
  • Do you have an Intel or Silicon chip?
  • What version of Anki do you have installed [Anki > About > Copy Debug Info]?

How long have you been using Anki? Did things used to work just fine, and then the frequent crashes started at some point? Or have you had frequent crashes since you first started using Anki? If it used to work, you should think about what else might have changed – OS version, Anki version, add-ons, etc. – around that time.
