Anki failing to open deck, os error 5

I am trying to open up a deck on Anki, it is a fresh install of Anki latest version qt6 with only the Review Heatmap addon installed.

Full Error Text: “500: Failed to open ‘C:/Users/thean/Documents/’: Access is denied. (os error 5)”

Location of Anki install was default, ran from my downloads folder. Deck was also in downloads folder. Migrated to Documents to check if maybe the downloads folder was the issue.

  1. I have followed the troubleshooting steps here: https:/-/docs.ankiweb.net/platform/windows/permission-problems.html
I have disabled my antivirus, tried it, and still ran the error. I also did the grant code "cd %APPDATA%

icacls Anki2 /grant ____:F /t" for both inside appdata and the downloads folder.
3. Here is the output for the debugging code instruction at the end of the troubleshooting guide:

I also went into the downloads folder security settings, and made sure I had full control. I am the only user of this PC (windows 11) and all users/groups have full control according to my security tab.

  1. I have tried to download an old 32 bit version of Anki, that did not fix my error.
  2. I have tried to download the qt5 version of Anki and that also did not fix my error.
  3. I ran Anki versions while holding shift to disable addons from running, and that also did not fix my error.
  4. I’ve seen about 2 past posts here about this, of which none of the solutions are working for me.
  5. I am running out of posts here and on reddit that have offered solutions that work for me.

I would greatly appreciate any help!

I would also like to mention that I have Anki on my laptop aswell. It is on Windows 11 and does use OneDrive like my desktop, however I have not ran into any issues at all with Anki on my laptop.

It appears that the issue was with the deck itself. The filename began with a #, once removed, the deck was able to import. This only seems to be an issue for newer version of Anki, as the deck reportedly worked without modification of the filename ~4 years ago when it was released.
