Anki doesn't start anymore (Windows)

I installed and used Anki 2.1.44 (Windows). Now suddenly it won’t start. I click the Anki icon, can see that some anki task is running in the task manager, but I don’t see the window. Restarting the PC doesn’t help. I tried the version 2.1.40, but it has the same issue. This is strange because it used to work perfectly.
