Anki crashing freshly installed on Windows

Hello,

I’m a new user and installed Anki 26.05 on my Windows 10. After starting up, it crashes some seconds later without any error.

Im using Windows 10 with i5-2520M. CMD tells me this

Laptops with the Intel Core i5-2520M processor are equipped with integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000.
No, Intel HD Graphics 3000 does not support DirectX 11 in hardware. The graphics card only supports the older version, DirectX 10.1.
I think the version from that year, which I also use on Windows 10, should work for you. Try downloading version 25.09.4.
But I don’t see it anymore; I’m looking for that version here.

That’s weird, maybe someone else can recommend something, although I do have an installer for that version lying around somewhere.

I only see this link:
https://github.com/ankitects/anki/releases/download/25.09/anki-launcher-25.09-windows.exe

@juve Does changing the video driver help? See Display Issues - Anki Manual

@kaiu You can find it in the 25.09 release (it updates to 25.09.5 automatically): Releases · ankitects/anki · GitHub

But note that this will break when 26.08 stable is released (for new users installing 25.09.x or users trying to update from 2.09.x or older versions).

I deleted the folder
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Programs\Anki
I reinstalled it, but the version is 25.09.4.

I sometimes use the old one because I still haven’t figured out what’s going on. Right now, there were no decks at all, but after a minute or two, they finally appeared. And it’s impossible to predict; it can take days for things to work normally.
So I sometimes turn on the new version, just to test things out.

This helped! For the first time I’m seeing buttons now in the screen. Going to test further and hope it stays this way. Thanks a lot
