Anki cards corrupted

Anki cards are showing identifiers like 5fbf850f2cb74ae9961450f50c7b3162-oa-1 instead of actual content of card, not exactly sure what to do and how to bring back my old decks, is it possible to restore my anki decks back to Friday so i can export my non corrupted anki decks?

If you have been using the desktop app or AnkiMobile / AnkiDroid (not exclusively using AnkiWeb) there will be automatic backups you can restore from:

Hello, thank you for your reply, this issue occurred when i tried importing my decks to my new device when all cards were corrupted including on the web version. I have already tried using the back ups but in my opinion the only way this can be fixed is by restoring ankiweb to Friday, so that I can export those decks and import the fixed, non-corrupted ones to my new device. My old device is gone.

ankiweb backups might be months old, so it’s probably best if you could get it working without that backup.

Is that what you see when you try to learn the due cards for today?
Can you show us the contents of the fields of one card with that issue?

This is whats been shown and its the same on the web page

Those look like Image Occlusion Enhanced image filenames. Are these IO Enhanced notes/cards?

  • What kind of an import (what sort of file, how did you create it, etc.) were you doing?
  • Have you installed the add-on on your new device?

Hello, thank you for your reply!
They are just pictures that i have screenshotted from lecture slides, then image occluded them.
I have not installed the add on, when i imported the anki, everything seemed to sync but these

I still don’t know what form you imported things in – but if you don’t have the add-on, you won’t be able to edit these notes/cards. And if you imported them as the incorrect note type then you might have lost important data that the add-on needs to properly display the cards.

Hello, thank you for your help!
I tried what you said, I think you’re right.
I was wondering if there’s a recent anki web backup which would allow me to restore the uncorrupted cards.

I think you will be much better off identifying the automatic backup you have from just before this problem started, and restoring that. You can keep trying different ones until you find the one you want. From the last few days, you probably have at least a dozen to choose from.

If you want a server-side backup, you don’t get to pick a date. The most recent backup is from 16 Jan 2025, at 23:00 UTC. If you would rather have that, please confirm and I’ll restore that to your AnkiWeb account. It will wipe out everything there, so if there’s anything you want to save, do that first.

Hello, thank you so much
Yes I confirm id like the one from Thursdays as I cannot back it up because of my new device. I would like the 16th January please.

Thank you so much

Okay, I’ve restored that version. Make sure you download from AnkiWeb when you sync.

Another thing you can take a look at – you’ve got several GBs of media in your account. Maybe that’s necessary – but maybe it’s a lot of leftover media that you don’t need. Consider running Check Media to clean up your collection.media. Media - Anki Manual

Thank you very much, so do I delete the anki app and log out of the web, then log in again and then download and sync from the app?

No, none of that. Just click Sync.

Perfect thank you very much, I really appreciate it!
