Hello,
I need your help with an issue regarding my Anki account.
All of my flashcards have disappeared from both AnkiDroid and AnkiWeb. I had a large collection of decks that I spent a lot of time creating and studying, and now they are all gone.
About a year ago, I uninstalled the AnkiDroid app, but I did not delete any of my data or files. My collection had always been synchronized with AnkiWeb. I regularly used both AnkiDroid on my phone and AnkiWeb on my computer, and everything was working normally. I would log in from time to time to study and manage my flashcards.
Recently, I logged into my account again using the correct email address and password, but all of my flashcards were gone. It now looks as if my account is completely new, with no decks or study history.
Could you please check if my collection can be recovered or if my account can be restored to a previous state? I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.
If you need any additional information, please contact me at: jbraz492@gmail.com
The data was removed from your AnkiWeb account in March 2026, after your account had been inactive for at least 6 months. We delete the data from accounts in our system that aren’t being used for syncing or studying, so AnkiWeb isn’t suitable for long-term storage of your inactive collection – AnkiWeb account removal - Anki FAQs .
However that policy only affects the data on our servers. If you still have a local copy of your collection on any devices where you used Anki / AnkiMobile / AnkiDroid, you can upload your collection to AnkiWeb and resume syncing.
- It sounds like you’ve used your collection in AnkiDroid since you uninstalled it, so the uninstall shouldn’t be an issue.
- If your collection has disappeared from your existing install of AnkiDroid, that’s likely the result of choosing the wrong direction on a one-way sync. But you can restore the automatic backup made right before that happened.
Generally when data is removed from an account, that includes the server-side backups. However there is one that was retained in your account – from August 2025. [Just like a local automatic backup, that does not include any media attached to your collection.] I expect that version of your collection is older than whatever you could recover from your device, but if you want me to restore it to your AnkiWeb account, please confirm.
