Accidentally deleted 3 decks on AnkiWeb – request for server-side backup

Hello,

I accidentally deleted 3 decks on my AnkiWeb account today. I only use AnkiWeb through a web browser, so I do not have an Anki app installed on a computer or phone, and I don’t have any local backups.

Could a staff member please check if there is a recent server-side backup from before the deletion, and restore it to my AnkiWeb account?

Thank you very much for your help!

I’m looking at the AnkiWeb account connected to the email address you used to post here.

It looks like your account has synced with AnkiDroid – is that something new that you started after you deleted the decks?

Server-side backups are made much less frequently than local backups on a device with one of the apps installed. The most recent server-side backup of your account was made on 17 October, so it will be out of date with any changes or studying you’ve done since then.

Recovering a slightly outdated copy of those decks is probably better than not having them at all, but restoring that backup will overwrite everything else currently in your account. If there are edits/updates/review history for other decks that you want to keep, there are a few things you need to do before restoring and syncing. So, it’s your choice –

  1. If you’re satisfied with losing what is currently in your collection and replacing it with that older backup version, confirm that you want me to restore the backup.

  2. If you don’t want to lose what is currently in your collection –

    • – but you’ve already done what you need to do to preserve it, confirm that you want me to restore the backup.

    • – and you need help with what you need to do to preserve it, speak up, and I will give you those steps first.

Thank you for checking this for me.

Yes, I only downloaded the AnkiDroid app after the deletion happened. Since I have been active after 17 October, restoring that backup would cause me to lose even more of my recent progress and new cards. I prefer to keep my current collection as it is now and not restore the older version.

Thank you so much for your quick help and support anyway!
