A card to be able to appear in multiple filtered decks

I want to be able for cards to appear in multiple filitered decks.

Let’s say I have a deck where all my leeches go so I would later edit them. And I have a filtered deck where all of the cards with the tag too long(a card with too many words that I’ve manually tagged). So if a card is both a leech and has that tag I want t be able to encounter it in booth filtered decks.

Also for this to be dne effectively there should be an option every time a card matches the criteria to be moved to the filtered decks so I won’t have to press rebuild on every deck manually

I’m not responding to your suggestion – but rather offering an alternative:

Both of those use-cases sound like they are better suited for a search (even a saved search, if you want to use them regularly) than for a Filtered deck. Filtered decks are designed to pull together a set of cards for purposes of studying them, and then return them to their home decks.

But leeches you want to edit, and and overly-long cards that you need to fix – those are things you handle in the Browse window. It’s much easier to search for tag:leech or tag:too-long than it is to search the same notes/cards by the name of the Filtered deck that they will only be in if you rebuild it immediately before searching.

the problem with that method is that I still have to do it manually. And do it for every combination I would eventually think up

I don’t think I see a difference between the amount of manual work you need to do to run (and save) a search vs. to create a Filtered deck. But if one involves more work, surely it would have to be creating the Filtered deck, wouldn’t it?

Yes, for every search combination you might think up you’d have to run another search or create another Filtered deck. However, with searches, you avoid the only-available-to-one-Filtered-deck.

In case you didn’t know, you can save your current search query in the Browser by right clicking “Saved Searches”:

Then you can quickly view the same search by clicking whatever you called it under “Saved Searches”.

That way you don’t have to manually write the query each time.

I thought the point of filtered decks was that they are temporary. If you have cards automatically being moved to a filtered deck, that deck would have to be more permanent—like a regular deck. Then there would need to be functionality to not move the card if the deck had been deleted.

Also, multiple decks altering the scheduling information for a single card would cause problems.

So this would be rather complicated to implement.

Are you making your own cards? I’m curious about why you don’t just make cards with fewer words or edit the ones you tag.

I think if you had reschedule on, studying in one filtered deck would remove the card from every filtered deck.
