Why are the options as to when cards will be shown again: “Again <10m,” “Hard 20m,” “Good 28d” and “Easy 1.5Mo.”? Can I modify these options to where I won’t need to wait so long to see the cards again. Thanks for any and all replies and/or suggestions
Those intervals are based on your own settings – like what learning/relearning steps you have, which scheduling algorithm you’re using (FSRS or the default SM-2), and what settings you use for it. Whether you can modify those, whether you should be trying to modify them, and how to modify them depend on that too.
Danika_Dakika, thanks again for your replies. I have my Anki set to FSRS, and for Learning Steps and for New Cards Learning Steps the settings are 10m and 20m, and for Lapses, the settings are also set to 10m and 20m. The Leech Threshold is 8. The Maximum Interval is 35500, with FSRS at 90%. I don’t see any other options to make changes.
Danika_Dakika, I should mention, the above settings are for Verbs. For Nouns, the settings are: “Again <10m,” “Hard <15m,” “Good 20m” and “Easy 5d.” These are completely different than the settings for Verbs.
Have you optimized your FSRS parameters, or are you using the default parameters – Deck Options - Anki Manual ? If you have optimized parameters, post them as text.
How does that Desired Retention (DR) compare to your actual retention results – Stats > Retention (screenshot is fine)? I don’t know why you want to modify the intervals you’re seeing, because you haven’t said what the problem is. That’s the first place you should be looking to see if there even is a problem at all.
These are 2 different cards, each with their own review history, so there’s no reason they would necessarily show you the same next intervals when you study them. For instance, if those cards/decks use the same preset, based on your steps, I can tell you that the first one has advanced to the 2nd learning step – so you’ve studied it before and graded it Good. The second one is a brand New card you’re seeing for the first time.
If you have specific cards you want are concerned about the scheduling on, you should post a screenshot of the Card Info.

I tried to send a screenshot of my Retention stats, but I couldn’t send the screenshot because it was seen as an attachment.
I want to optimize the intervals because I don’t want to wait 2.3 months or 3.6 months to see the cards again.
As far as I can tell, I shouldn’t choose “Good.” I need to know which of the four choices to choose so that review interval isn’t so long.

Those parameters are problematic – so, you should reset to the defaults for now. [Click the circle-arrow next to the parameters field, confirm and save.]
I took a look at your collection synced to AnkiWeb (hopefully it is up-to-date?) to see why.
- You have very little review history (~ 700 reviews) for FSRS to use in optimization, and only 30 cards have graduated to Review, all of which are overdue.
- You have another 60 cards in Learn and a few in Relearn, but it looks like you are occasionally churning through chunks of them marking them Again or Hard, but not making much progress.
So, the answer to your initial question – “Why are Some Cards Due in 1 ½ Months?” – is that they are either overdue or have been churned through many, many times in Learn. [I can’t tell you for sure about any card without the Card Info. I updated your Forums account so you might be able to post screenshots now, but I think you’re issue is bigger than any particular card, so I don’t think that’s necessary anymore, and I’ve already seen your collection.]
Here’s are some specific recommendations for what I think you should do –

Search up all your Learn cards [
is:learn -is:review] and Reset them to New –Select All > Cards > Reset, check both boxes. [I hardly ever suggest doing that, but your collection is just starting out, and you need to turn this around. That won’t happen if you’re fighting with a backlog in Learn every day and can’t maintain your active Review cards.] -
Set your daily New card limit to 0. For now, you need to focus on rehabilitating your active cards.

That should leave you with a handful of Relearn cards and a good stack of overdue Review cards. Study as many of those as you can each day, graduating everything in Relearn to Review every day. You’re likely to have a lot of lapses, especially on those overdue Review cards, so take your time relearning them, and it’s okay if you don’t get through everything on day 1.

You’ll be done with this phase when you can get through all of your Review cards for several days in a row, and your number of due Review cards each morning is at a manageable level.

Then you can start introducing New cards, but you need to set the daily limit to a reasonable number (not 9999) so that you can graduate all of them to Review every day. [Expect that your daily workload will be 8-10x your daily New card limit.]

Continue using the default parameters for a month of studying every day, then you can optimize (and then come back monthly after that to re-optimize).
