Trouble with Find and Replace of "->"

I am trying to replace “->” (“hyphen” then “greater than sign” without quotation marks and without a space in between them) which I have used in many cards as an arrow. I want to replace it with →. But I’m having trouble. I have no trouble replacing a word with →, but I can’t replace “->” with →. So it seems the problem here is with the finding, not the replacing. Strangely, when I search for “->” in the Card Browser with quotation marks, I get 394 cards that have ->. But when I search for “->” without quotation marks, I get 35 cards and none of them have ->.

I’ve tried all of the following combinations, both with Treat input as regular expression checked and unchecked. I don’t know HTML, so I’m hoping to be missing something obvious that someone can kindly point out for me. Thank you.

Searching for -> instead should work, because that’s how the text is actually stored as HTML.

Almost. It should be "->". The quotes are important because the - character means “do not search for that”.

E.g. -note:Basic excludes Basic notes.

But if you’re in the find and replace window then you have to use -> (without quotes) instead.
