Steps to reproduce:
- Open Browse, select a card, toggle suspend (Ctrl+J).
- Card is correctly suspended — searching
is:suspended returns it as expected.
- However, the row stays plain/uncolored instead of turning yellow.
Troubleshooting already tried (no effect on any of these):
- Fully restarted Anki (not just closed the window)
- Toggled night mode off/on
- Switched OS/Anki theme between light and dark
- Launched in Safe Mode (Shift held at startup, add-ons disabled) — issue persists
Environment:
- Anki version: 26.08.1
- OS: Mac OS Tahoe 26.5.2
- No add-ons active (confirmed via Safe Mode)
- Browse toggle set to “Cards” mode (not Notes)
Suspending/unsuspending itself works correctly (confirmed via is:suspended search), so this appears to be purely a rendering issue with the row coloring, not the suspend function itself.
Cannot reproduce on linux. Did you try the other troubleshooting steps as well, especially video drivers?
It looks like you got some of the Troubleshooting Checklist – but please go through the rest of the items, even the ones you don’t think are relevant.
I am not able to reproduce this behavior with Anki 26.08.1, macOS Tahoe 26.6.1, Metal (default) video driver, both Light and Dark themes, both Native and Anki styles.

I am also not able to reproduce this behavior with any of the 3 video driver settings: Metal (default), OpenGL, and Software.
I went through the rest of the items on the Troubleshooting checklist
- changing video drivers
- safe mode, checking add-ons
- checking my anki version/deleting anki and redownloading the most updated version
- checked my database
- restarted my computer
- reset window sizes
Still no yellow highlight on suspended cards
I don’t think anyone is going to be able to reproduce this, so perhaps a screenshot would help us understand exactly what you’re seeing.
How about that? A search of is:suspended that returns cards/rows without the highlighting, but that all have parentheses around the contents of the “Due” column (another indicator of suspended). Do this in Safe Mode, so it can’t be the affect of any add-ons.

I figured it out! turns out I was looking at another person’s Anki and realized that where I had “Note Type” they had “card type”. I must have toggled cards and notes incorrectly the first time I tried. By clicking Toggle Cards/Notes under the View tab, I was able to match my set up to what my friend had and when I tried suspending, the cards turned yellow.
