Two days ago I was successfully using Anki app on my Surface 7 running Windows 11. Today when I went to open the app, it asked me to upload a new version. Well, I tried everything the upgrade asked for: ensured my Windows 11 was uploaded to the most recent version; went to the official Anki website for the recent download. Then everything went to hell. I could not open the Windows 10+ version (recommended for Surface 7). The message it gives me brings me back to a circular loop of error messages (see below): When I download now, I get a message about profile and again I cannot move forward. Help. I have over 1 year of language study that is being delayed daily due to this frustrating situation. I am not a coder and will likely need clear and simple steps to help me through. Thanks.
Does your device have an ARM chip? If you don’t know, look up the specs for the device. Make sure you’ve installed the correct version for your architecture.
I was did a restart for Surface 7 and then went to Anki website (again) and downloaded the Windows 10+ version. The program went through the typical install routine and now at this moment in time, I am able to use the app again on Windows 11. Fingers-crossed it will continue to work and my notecard data is not lost. Thank you to other folks who recommended this restart fix after uninstalling all applications related to Anki and then reinstalling. ![]()
