Nested clozes on AnkiDroid

Quick question, is it just for me that nested clozes on AnkiDroid stopped working? For the nested cloze I get an empty question side but everything displays correctly for the answer side. Example: {{c1::some{{c2::thing}} else}} shows c1 correctly for the question and answer. However for c2 I get “This card is empty. Use the…” for the question but the answer shows up correctly.

Thanks. For anyone interested I posted a temporary solution (until AnkiDroid moves to using the “new” backend completely, planned for 2.1.17) here or as a branch here.
