Is there any method to force correct answer typing before proceeding to next card?

Hi everyone,

I’m using type-in-the-answer cards for vocabulary practice and want to make the typing practice more strict. Currently when I make an error, Anki shows the correct answer but lets me continue without actually typing it correctly.

I’m looking for a way to force typing the correct answer before moving forward. The ideal behavior would be:

  1. Card shows definition → I type the term

  2. If incorrect → shows correct answer BUT keeps input field active

  3. Requires me to re-type the correct answer manually

  4. Only after successful correct typing → proceed to next card

This would create a more active learning process where I must physically type the correct answer, not just see it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do you need the system to force you to do this though? It seems like you could add a text entry box on the back of the card, and re-type the answer for yourself before grading the card Again.

  2. Instant Type Answer Feedback

  3. Fill the blanks - Multiple type:cloze support

Hey! Thanks for the suggestion - that’s a good point!

I tried it but found that Anki only allows one typing field per card. When I add a second {{type:}} field on the back, it gives an error.

Perfect! The “Reviewer” addon is exactly what I needed! Just installed it and it works perfectly - now Anki actually forces me to type the correct answer. Thank you so much!
