Since I saw that anki desktop is basically chrome, a question: can I install chrome plugins to it? I would love to access yomichan from whithin anki for example.
Anki for desktop is not „basically Chrome“ and you can’t install Chrome extensions.
There are however extensions for Google Chrome which assist you in creating Anki notes.

Nah, anything with WebKit is basically Chrome to me. I see that there’s a discussion in Qt issue tracker about supporting them in the future in their QWebEngineView: Loading... , but they deprioritized it.
In my particular case of having Yomichan popup dictionary inside anki, there should be some way. First I need to isolate the part of Yomichan that uses the Chrome extension API and replace these API calls with plain JS.
