iOS Version of Anki on GitHub

Hi everyone,

As a Dev I am curious about the software project behind Anki (and hope that I could help in some form in the future). I already had a look at the Desktop project, as an iPhone user I was specially curious about the iOS Project though. However I could not find it
Am I blind or is the iOS Version just not open source ? If so what is the reason ? Preventing copy cats ?

It is not open source. The paid version for iPadOS/iOS is - as far as I know - the only source of revenue for running the whole Anki ecosystem.

Hi there, also wondering the same. I pay for the app, and would love to contribute. Particularly to fix a bug in notifications (they don’t show up unless I open the app that day). Would it be possible to join the org on GitHub to help?

Thank you for wanting to help, but it’s not possible. As said above, AnkiMobile is not open source.

Regarding the notifications, AnkiMobile needs to be running in the background to be able to schedule a notification to appear. If you’re force-closing it, or not opening it for long enough periods that iOS decides to terminate it, it won’t be able to schedule the notification.
