Took a look around the forums but did not see a matching suggestion. I did find the URL schemes documentation and tried out the /search
endpoint, but it doesn’t do what I’m looking for—primarily because it requires opening the app, and can’t just run in the background and retrieve data.
What I’d like to do is basically be able to use an iOS shortcut, in the background, to retrieve the cards I have due today (or heck, maybe just any search query)—or at least how many there are. My use case is that I often do my cards early in the day, but if I forget or don’t have time, I’d like to run a shortcut at dinnertime and at bedtime that reminds me that I have N cards remaining for review so I don’t forget to take care of them.
I’d even like a shortcut that, if I end up forgetting for a full day, sends me a more urgent reminder that my cards are piling up.
I imagine that with this type of background access to Anki data using iOS shortcuts, you could do a lot of other cool stuff, too, but this seems like a really reasonable place to start.
