IO: Improve Combine Feature

I’m not exactly sure what do we call the tool officially, but I’m talking of the one used to combine multiple masks and turn them into one.

That feature seems to only work for all the masks at once. Any way we can select the masks to combine before conjoining them?

If I understand your request correctly, it should already be possible to do that, at least on Anki Desktop.

  1. Select all the masks you want to combine
  2. Click on the Group Selection button, or press G on your keyboard

Hmm… it seems this is not possible on AnkiDroid for some reason.

Is it impossible to select several fragments or is it impossible to combine them? I didn’t have any problems with this in Ankidroid 2.19.1

I am not sure how do you select them. I am trying to tap but it does nothing.

Drag a rectangle that touches the masks you want to select.

Thanks, that works.

I’m wondering though why the implementation is like this. What if a person wants to select some decks but drawing a rectangle puts other decks in it too? The simplest situation where this happens is if the masks to be conjoined are in the three axis of a triangle and some other mask is in the centre of that.

On Anki Desktop, you can also select multiple masks by clicking on the first mask, then hold the Shift key while clicking on each additional mask you want to combine.

Edit this one on desktop instead? Don’t add the mask in the middle until you’ve added the masks around it and grouped them?

As for why it’s implemented like this – I assume that drag-to-select is the easiest to implement because that’s a fairly standard method for multiple-selecting on touchscreens.
