How to Transfer Progress from Modified Deck to Original Deck

Hello. I’m hoping someone can help me resolve an issue I’m having. I did a quick search but didn’t find any threads that specifically addressed my problem.

I am studying Japanese. I downloaded and have been working through this shared deck:

Japanese Core 2000 Step 01 Listening Sentence Vocab + Images - AnkiWeb

Everything was going swimmingly, and I liked the deck. One day I decided I’d get fancy and downloaded this add-on for pitch accents:

Japanese Pitch Accent - AnkiWeb

To use this add-on, I had to manually specify which field contained the expression(s) for which the pitch diagram would be generated. I did so and the pitch diagrams magically appeared.

Long story short I decided to remove this add-on. Again, it required me to manually specify certain fields. I did so, the add-on removal tool did its work, and the pitch diagrams magically disappeared. However, there is something else that has changed about the cards.

I know that last statement is uselessly vague. But honestly, I can’t be more specific than that. I also don’t know if the “change” occurred when I applied the add-on, or removed it. I just know that some field, or note, or tag, or whatever was removed or changed and now my cards aren’t as complete as they were before.

There are a few cards where I can specifically remember what’s no longer there. But for most cards or the new cards, the deck just doesn’t seem as good as it was before.

So, what I’d like to do it restore the deck to what it was before I started messing with it using that add-on. I know I can very easily just remove the deck, re-download the original deck, and re-import it, but I’ll lose all my progress, statistics, etc.

So, finally I get to the actual question: is there a way I can restore the deck to its original version and maintain the progress from the deck I screwed up?

I hope I have clearly communicated the problem and my question. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Correct me if I’m wrong, what you’re asking is Normal deck → Edited the deck, but continued to study it → now you want to restore the deck, but keeping the review log of the period when you was studying the edited version?

That’s exactly it.

And I’m not sure that it matters, but I didn’t add or delete any cards. Just that the fields and/or templates for some of the cards were modified. So, the original deck will match the modified deck in terms of the number and order of cards.

I think that you can import the deck and in the importing screen to use the “update” notes. This will keep the review log and edit all the notes. Yesterday I did just that (exported to excel with the unique ID of each card), setted that setting and it edited all my notes while keeping the review log

OK. I’ll give that a try. Thanks!
